 Osvaldo
 Golijov

Osvaldo Golijov was born in Argentina to Russian-Jewish parents, and grew up in South America and Israel. Despite the many different cultural influences in his life, he developed a special love for South America. It is the South American elements which characterize many of his compositions –- although the influence of Judeo-Christian liturgy and klezmer music is also very present. Golijov wrote the clarinet quintet, The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind, one of his major compositions, for Giora Feidman and the Cleveland Quartet. The idea of combining different forms of music from various cultures and styles soon led to Golijov's collaboration with the KRONOS Quartet, for whom he has written a many compositions and arrangements.
