 Wolfgang
Rihm

* 1952

Wolfgang Rihm numbers among the leading artists of our time. His works are some of the most frequently performed contemporary pieces, and always capture the public's attention. Many already consider Rihm to be a classic among the modern composers. His compositional quality and variety are unique, and hard to compare with any works of today or earlier. Rihm's broad repertory includes works of every imaginable form, orchestration, manner of expression and message, but are always characterized by innovation and the joy of experimentation. Rihm's choice and incorporation of the widest variety of texts for his compositions never fails to fascinate the listener. In 1995, the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart commissioned Wolfgang Rihm to write the Communio (for a boy vocal soloist, alto, choir and orchestra) for the Academy's Requiem of Reconciliation.
